Tilt-Shift Lens

One of the more mysterious lenses used in architectural and product photography is the tilt-shift lens. This technical and useful lens allows the photographer to capture much more angle of view without the wide-angle distortion when super-wide angle lenses are used. In addition, the tilt feature allows selective focus to increase or decrease the focal plane in the photo. All of this means that in the proper hands, this useful tool can capture a very wide, yet undistorted view of architecture in perfect focus from back to front.

Tilt-Shift lenses are available in a variety of focal lengths, but the most useful are the 24mm and 17mm versions. The longer focal lengths are best used with product and landscape photography subjects.
